When space is in short supply, the only way is up. Growing auto parts distributor Automint installed a mezzanine floor in their Huddersfield warehouse to increase storage capacity by 182m². Established in 1990, Automint are an established importer and distributor of air springs and air suspension components. Primarily supplying parts to commercial vehicle motor factors, Automint provide fast delivery times on a comprehensive range of quality vehicle suspension components. Space to Swing an Air Spring
Automint commissioned Prodek to increase storage capability within their parts distribution warehouse. A mezzanine floor was the clear solution to the customer’s storage challenge. A freestanding structure consisting of horizontal steel beams fitted on upright columns. Decking is placed on purlins, which span the steel beams, to create a stable, load-bearing surface. In just three weeks, the mezzanine floor was completed, creating an additional 180m² of storage capacity.
Recognising the value in both Prodek’s mezzanine products and quality of service, Automint quickly ordered a second mezzanine installation within a neighbouring unit. The initial installation – 207m² – was extended by an extra 180m² to deliver a combined storage space of 387m².
One-hour fire protection was added to the underside of the mezzanine floor. Mezzanine fire protection consists of column casings, a suspended ceiling, and electrical work for lighting, emergency lighting and smoke detection.
