Choose Prodek Racking For Optimal Storage Efficiency

Industrial racking is available in a variety of formats to suit different applications, from timber storage to cask racking in breweries. Racking design and installation services work to ensure every cubic metre of available space delivers maximum revenue. An experienced engineer will initially conduct a site survey to assess the status quo, identify pinch points and opportunities, and safety concerns. The resulting design will be a custom racking configuration to deliver a fit-for-purpose storage system that supports maximum efficiency.

Racking systems are manufactured using quality steel appropriate for the intended application. For example, heavy duty racking is constructed from high-strength hot rolled steel sections able to support loads of 10,000kg’s per section whereas vertical racking uses a lighter-weight steel grade to support up to 1,000kg per linear metre.

The key requirement to installing an industrial racking system is a solid, stable floor to anchor racking to. With a robust design already in place, a racking installation can be completed within a short lead time and little disruption to operations.

Solutions for Every Operation

At Prodek, we offer pallet racking systems tailored to suit every distribution, handling, and storage need. Our racking consists of vertical frames and horizontal beams, with configurations that can store one or two pallets per bay.

We specialise in conventional, wide aisle, and adjustable pallet racking, ideal for use with standard handling equipment like counterbalance forklifts. For operations aiming to fully utilise vertical space, we also provide high-density options, including double-deep, narrow aisle, and live pallet racking (LIFO/FIFO), which require specialist equipment like reach trucks.

Our team ensures your racking system is designed for maximum storage efficiency, safety, and compliance with guidelines, helping you make the most of your space.

For Long and Heavy Items

Prodek’s cantilever racking systems offer a robust solution for storing long and heavy goods such as timber, extrusions, and even vehicles. Ideal for both indoor and outdoor use, these racking systems maximise vertical storage while maintaining a minimal footprint.

Built from high-strength hot-rolled or cold-formed steel, cantilever racking is designed for durability and long-term performance. With adjustable arms up to 2.5 meters long and load capacities of up to 2,500kg per arm, it can be customised as single- or double-sided configurations for optimal accessibility and efficient space utilisation.

Whether installed as wide or narrow aisle configurations, our cantilever racking adapts to your operational needs, ensuring safe and efficient storage for oversized items.

For the Toughest Loads

Prodek’s heavy duty racking systems are specifically designed to store the heaviest and most awkward-to-handle goods, providing a safe and efficient solution. Unlike conventional racking, which can’t handle oversized or heavy items, our bespoke heavy duty racking ensures optimal use of space, eliminating the need for unsafe floor storage.

Perfect for raw materials like steel coils or tooling, our systems are fully adjustable to accommodate varying dimensions and future stock changes. When designing heavy duty racking, we carefully consider the weight, size, and handling methods, ensuring your system meets both current and future storage needs.

For Long, Hand-Loaded Goods

Prodek’s vertical racking systems offer a space-efficient solution for storing long items such as extrusions, ladders, doors, and boards. Commonly known as lean-to racks, this storage system provides easy, front-facing access for rapid hand-picking, making it ideal for both distributors and retailers.

Vertical racking features a wide, anchored base for stability, with adjustable dividers or spigot arms to separate and secure items, preventing tipping and improving safety. Designed for applications where horizontal storage isn’t viable, this cost-effective system maximises space while supporting loads up to 1,000kg per linear meter. Available in sizes ranging from 1.5 to 4.2 meters, it adapts to a variety of storage needs.

For Secure Horizontal Storage

Prodek’s pigeon hole racking offers a practical solution for storing long items horizontally, reducing the risk of bending, sagging, or damage. Ideal for materials such as timber, piping, plasterboard, and steel conduit, this racking system provides easy access without the need for heavy lifting equipment.

Crafted from heavy-duty steel and powder-coated for durability, our pigeon hole racks can be installed as standalone units or integrated into larger systems, maximising indoor and outdoor space. Custom-designed solutions are available to meet specific storage requirements, including options to incorporate mezzanine floors for additional space utiliation. Quick to install and easily adaptable, Prodek’s pigeon hole racking ensures efficient, damage-free storage.

Ensuring Safety and Compliance

At Prodek, we collaborate with trusted sub-contracted SARI inspectors (SEMA-accredited) to ensure your racking systems are thoroughly assessed for safety and compliance. Our racking inspection process starts at ground level, moving systematically through each aisle to identify damage, missing components, and potential risks.

We go beyond a simple check-up—documenting and highlighting areas where storage equipment may be used incorrectly, helping you prevent future issues. With Prodek’s reliable inspection service, you can enhance workplace safety, reduce risks, and maintain operational compliance with confidence.

Maximise Safety and Minimise Downtime

Prodek offers high-quality racking protection, helping safeguard your assets, racking systems, and personnel from damage and injury in high-traffic warehouse environments. As an official Rack Group distributor, our protective solutions—featuring Rack Armour—combine durability with innovative design for maximum impact absorption, reducing the need for frequent repairs and downtime.

Prodek’s racking protection provides superior shock resistance against forklifts and manual handling equipment while ensuring compliance with health and safety guidelines. Easy to install, freestanding, and requiring zero maintenance, Rack Armour products are available in a range of high-visibility colours and are built to withstand harsh temperatures, offering a lifespan of 15+ years.

Industrial Racking FAQs

Industrial racking systems are available in an array of configurations and are storage systems designed to hold stock and goods in warehouse and storage facilities – storing pallets in rows on multiple levels.

It is recommended that storage pallets are stacked no higher than 15ft, but this depends entirely on the type of stock being stacked and the racking system’s purpose. For more information regarding Prodek’s racking capabilities, get in touch today.

To ensure the safety of your workforce, equipment, and stock, and avoid potential accidents and injury from occurring, all racking columns must be bolted to the floor with anchor bolts in accordance with SEMA regulations.

Our racking systems at Prodek are self-supporting and therefore do not need to be fixed to a wall. Fixing racking systems to a wall is only usually recommended if the racking is designed and approved by the building designers and racking suppliers.

According to Health and Safety Executive (HSE) regulations and legal framework for warehousing and storage businesses, independent racking inspections should be carried out at most every 12 months by a ‘technically competent person’.

Using the services of an external SEMA-trained racking inspector, Prodek ensures that your racking systems are safe and up to code. For more information regarding our sub-contracted Racking Inspection services, get in touch today.

Considered to be a cost-efficient method of storage management, pallet racking can vary in price depending upon the function and complexity of the pallet racking system in question. For more information regarding pallet racking pricing, get in touch with the team at Prodek today for a free, no-obligation quote.

You can protect your assets and racking systems by ensuring your staff are thoroughly trained, having your racking regularly inspected, and utilising effective racking protection. You can also assess your warehouse or storage facility’s layout to create optimised routes that ensure worker and equipment safety.

This type of racking does exactly what it says on the tin, storing the heaviest goods. A common problem with storing heavy and awkward-to-handle goods is the availability of suitable storage. Many warehouse operatives are forced to store heavy goods on the floor, taking up valuable space and creating a safety risk for warehouse users. Heavy duty racking is designed and manufactured to a bespoke configuration, to ensure the perfect-fit. Raw materials storage such as steel coils and tooling are usually too big and heavy for conventional warehouse racking, and so need a custom solution. Most heavy duty racking systems are adjustable to accommodate shifts in stock dimensions. One of the key considerations when designing a heavy duty racking installation is the weight and dimensions of current and future goods and materials. Accessibility by forklift truck or other handling methods is another key consideration to factor into heavy duty racking.

Cantilever racking is a long and heavy duty storage solution for use both indoors and outdoors. Most commonly used to store medium to large goods such as vehicles, timber, and extrusions, cantilever racking combines a small footprint with robust vertical storage. Constructed from hot-rolled steel and cold-formed steel, depending on the intended load, for maximum racking performance and longevity. Cantilever racking is installed as a wide aisle or narrow aisle guided racking with 76 to 105mm vertical adjustability, to suit different operating methods. Supporting arms measure up to 2.5 meters long with a maximum Safe Working Load (SWL) of up to 2,500kg. Racking is installed in a single- or double-sided configuration with supporting arms spaced to suit specific storage needs. Single-sided racking is well-suited to installation along a wall and double-sided racking is suited to installation as freestanding ensuring goods are accessible from both sides.

Designed to store and provide rapid access to long items with the smallest footprint possible. Often referred to as, lean-to racks, vertical racking is most commonly used to store extrusions and conduit, equipment such as ladders, and materials such doors and boards. Goods stored in a vertical rack are accessible from the front and designed for hand picking. Goods are stored at an angle from base to top, to avoid unsecured products from tipping. Vertical racking consists of a wide base anchored to a solid floor and adjustable D-shaped dividers or spigot arms to separate products or batches. When storing goods horizontally is not a viable option, vertical racking provides a low-cost method for handloaded goods, for both distributors and retailers. Vertical racking is available in four standard sizes, from 1.5 to 4.2 metres, with a maximum load of 1,000kg per linear metre.

A legal obligation for those in charge of a racking installation, a racking inspection is an annual safety check. The inspection must legally carried out by a competent person, having received SEMA (Storage Equipment Manufacturers’ Association) training and certification. Warehouses can be dangerous places to work and as such, the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 is in place to ensure racking is being used as designed, and that users are appropriately trained with a thorough understanding of potential risk. This legislation is designed to ensure employees are safe and do not willfully endanger others. Racking inspections use a visual method to assess and grade the safety of a racking installation via a simple traffic light classification system. Any racking classified as amber must be taken out of use within 4 weeks. Any racking classified as red must be decommissioned immediately and replaced.
