Enhancing Space Efficiency: Prodek’s Mezzanine Solutions for Taylor Eye Witnesses

Taylor Eye Witness – Sheffield - Prodek

Taylor’s Eye Witness have been making knives for over 150 years in its Sheffield factory and continue to manufacture kitchen knives, scissors and pocket knives in Sheffield, the original City of Steel. By all accounts what they don’t know about knives, scissors and pocket knives isn’t worth knowing!

Taylor’s Eye Witness Ltd invested £1m into a new production facility as part of a deal with Sheffield City Council. The new site, a 32,000 square foot single storey unit off the Sheffield Parkway, was previously owned by Sheffield City Council and has provided the business with a new modern factory space as well as room for their growing distribution business.

Prodek designed and installed Taylor Eye Witnesses new storage and production mezzanines shortly after moving in to their new Sheffield based site. Both 395mand 173m2 with finished floor levels of 3.45metres and 42 linear metres of handrail with 2No handrails. The storage mezzanine created space for narrow aisled pallet racking underneath allowing to store shelving and Longspan racking on top while the production mezzanine created double the space!

We can offer a variety of finishes to our standard decking material from hard wearing surfaces for high traffic areas to slip resistant finishes where oil or fluids are present.

Production mezzanine floors are required to have a sixty-minute fire resistance as employees will be working full time on the mezzanine. The fire resistance is achieved by fitting a suspended ceiling to the underside of the mezzanine beams, fascia to exposed edges and casings around mezzanine columns.
