Creating the Largest Indoor Breaker Storage Facility
Vehicle salvage and green parts are widely considered to be an environmentally responsible solution within the car repair supply chain. Used car parts offer garages and bodyshops fantastic value for money, with reclaimed parts often costing half the price of new versions.
The challenge for Synetiq is to maintain the quality of salvaged vehicles, thus protecting stock value. When a bodyshop orders a door panel, for instance, the expectation is to receive the part on a next day delivery service, in the same condition as advertised. Any unexpected damage to a part causes a delay in the repair process, with hours of unexpected labour time and cost added to the job.

Vehicle Racking System Installation
Synetiq invested in a new facility at its Winsford site to house 1000 premium vehicles in a warehouse. The largest of its kind in the UK, this warehouse protects Synetiq’s valuable stocks from the elements.
To fully maximise every square metre of the new indoor storage facility, Synetiq hired Prodek to develop a bespoke vehicle racking system capable of supporting 1000 reclaimed vehicles.
CarRax is Prodek’s tailored vehicle racking system. Manufactured in Sheffield using heavy-duty, hot-rolled steel, with a hot-dipped galvanised finish. This 5-tier cantilever installation supports 5 vehicles per side. Vehicles can be stored with or without wheels and provides easy access for forklift trucks to manage stocks. The accessibility of stock stored using CarRax greatly reduces vehicle damage during handling.
The finished vehicle racking system was completed within 14 weeks. The installation consists of 78 x 5-tier double-sided CarRax, and 48 x 5-tier single-sided CarRax, all reaching 8350mm in height. Vertical space is fully utilised with CarRax. A total of 277,060mm heavy duty channel guide rail was installed, constructed from 125x65x15 channel.
Overall, the Synetiq Winsford CarRax vehicle racking system stores a total of 1020 cars in a single warehouse.
