OPM’s working relationship with Prodek began in 2019, when the racking and storage experts installed a Made in Sheffield mezzanine floor within the factory to increase OPM floorspace and storage capacity.

To enhance their GMP audited production site in Leeds, OPM Packaging commissioned Flexiwall by Prodek. This lightweight, adaptable factory partition was used to create a controlled production area to maintain high-quality, contamination-free production processes and materials. Particle contamination control is an essential requirement for UK manufacturers supplying the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical supply chain.

Create a Controlled Production Environment with a factory partition

As a food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industry supplier, OPM must adhere to stringent GMP, Good Manufacturing Practices, to ensure consistent, high-quality production standards, from batch to batch. To meet downstream supply chain demands, whereby packaging must be manufactured in a controlled critical environment, OPM needed to create a production environment with full particle contamination control.

Flexiwall is an ideal solution to meet GMP standards, creating a 99% dust-tight seal, from factory floor to ceiling. The factory partition offers a low-cost solution, greatly reduced installation time, and less disruption, compared to the installation of a standard stud partition wall.

The first Flexiwall partition installed within the OPM factory measures an impressive 62,278mm in length and 7,798mm in height. The partition is suspended from extra-support steel work and includes a pedestrian door and vision panels along the entire partition length.

The second OPM Flexiwall partition measures 6,650mm in length and 7,800mm in height, and includes a double steel pedestrian door which is suspended from existing steel work with the support of additional steel work installed by Prodek.

A Futureproofed Factory

OPM required a partition system with transparent panels to allow light into the controlled production area, resulting in a pleasant environment for machine operators and quality technicians working within partition walls. To control airflow, Prodek installed partition wall doors with rapid open and close times, to reduce temperature fluctuations and maintain robust particle contamination control.

Prodek offered OPM a future-proofed factory investment, with Flexiwall being a highly adaptable factory partition system. OPM predict a premises move in the near future, as their business continues to expand – Flexiwall offers OPM the option to relocate the partition as required. Furthermore, Flexiwall was installed without causing damage to the infrastructure of the existing, rented business premises.
